Elopements allow you to spend the entire day with your spouse and gives you an almost unlimited timeline to do what you want to do, instead of feeling pressured to have events or things planned for a large group of people, you can simply be. If you decide you’d like to elope in Greece, it allows you to combine both your honeymoon and wedding into one experience and gives you ample time to reflect and enjoy that time together as newlyweds.

Write your own vows. Sometimes weddings, by their nature, are big, exciting events, with a lot of guests and a space that isn’t quite. One way to keep your wedding personal and unique is to write your own vows. Writing your own vows can be one of the easiest and simplest ways to bring calm and intimacy into your wedding day without needing to restructure the wedding day itself.

Setting up a portrait session with your photographer can be a great way to build trust and a connection. If you’re wedding is a pretty intimate day, your photographer may be one of only a handful of people present—in cases like this, it really helps to have some report and an ongoing relationship, because it can make taking photos together feel special vs. feel like you’re inviting an outsider in.

Wedding welcome bags

Your wedding weekend kicks off long before you make that glorious walk down the aisle. From the minute your guests check into their hotels, you have the opportunity to set the tone for the type of celebration you want, starting with the wedding welcome bags.

Top 5 reasons your wedding needs welcome bags

Today I’m sharing the top five reasons why you really should provide welcome gifts to your guests, especially when your wedding is a destination event or involves out of town guests! (Post and photos found on Marigold and Grey, artisan welcome gifts)

Shows Appreciation
Travel to and from a wedding can be very expensive. Not to mention, guests also have to shell out money for a hotel stay and in some cases, even request a day off of work to make sure they arrive in time for all of the wedding festivities. They’re also spending on bridal shower gifts, chipping in for bachelorette celebrations and even buying a wedding gift from your registry. With all of this time and money being invested by friends and family to be there to celebrate with you, showing them appreciation with a welcome gift upon arrival is the least you can do. If you’re on a tight budget, don’t panic. There are definitely ways to create wedding welcome gifts on a budget if you find yourself low on funds as your make your way through wedding planning.

Comfort Items
Again, with guests traveling near and far to attend your wedding, you want them to feel at home. Wedding welcome bags are a great chance to include amenity items in addition to snacks so your guests will feel at home even while traveling. Bottled water, Advil, and Pepto Bismol, and sweet & salty snacks are some fantastic basics to include so your family and friends have these at their fingertips. You can package the amenity items in cute little amenity kits for an added touch!

Give a Sneak Peek
Wedding welcome gifts are a fabulous way to give your guests a sneak peek into the theme and/or aesthetic of your wedding. You can introduce your color palette with ribbon and gift tag. You can even introduce the wedding style with the type of box, bag or basket you choose. For example, a modern wedding might feature a sleek black gift box whereas a rustic wedding might feature a kraft box.

Communicate Logistics
We’re big fans of custom paper around here as you may have checked out our post on ways to create the perfect welcome letter. The welcome booklet is a perfect way to communicate logistics to your guests to include the weekend itinerary, transportation details and nearby things to do and see. True, you probably already communicated this information in your invitations and/or on your wedding website but it doesn’t hurt to include it in your gift boxes so they have it handy. After all, it’s highly unlikely that everyone remembered to pack your invitation suite!

Tells Your Story
You may have seen our previous post on how to tell your love story with wedding welcome gifts but in case not, including items that are carefully curated to tell the couple’s story is a great way to take the welcome gift basket to a whole new level. Selecting a sweet treat from the bakery where the couple had their first date or perhaps a cookie of the alma mater where the couple met and fell in love. The possibilities are endless!
If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not to provide welcome gifts for your wedding guests, I hope that this quick list of reasons has been helpful!

Ultra Violet the Pantone Color 2018

Pantone Color 2018 is Ultra Violet

How to incorporate 2018 hottest color into your wedding

Pantone have announced that Ultra Violet is their Color 2018, and it’s a gorgeous bright purple hue that works perfectly as an accent to your wedding scheme.

While we love a classic wedding in neutral hues, there’s something about a wedding that embraces color that always makes us smile, and Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year is definitely, well, colorful.

When it comes to wedding colors, there’s purple, and then there’s purple—or should we say Ultra Violet, Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2018. As a vibrant departure from Greenery (2017’s fresh and organic Color of the Year), Ultra Violet is a deep, blue-based purple—darker than lavender, cooler than plum, but brighter than eggplant—with cosmic undertones to evoke “originality, ingenuity and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”

As Ultra Violet takes center stage as Pantone Color 2018, here’s how to work it into all your wedding details.

We would suggest flowers are the way to include Ultra Violet into a wedding. It makes a more sophisticated look, rather than a full explosion of purple which could be too much. Less is more, but you can play with various hues of purple and lilac, and don’t forget to blend in with whites/creams and touches of greenery.

Signature sips at wedding receptions have been on the rise, so naturally we’ve been curious how the trend will evolve as couples make it their own. We’ve been loving the witty “his” and “hers” drink selections, but now there’s a whole new twist: two cocktails become one!
