Many brides decide to repurpose their mother’s wedding dress as a sweet way to incorporate family traditions into their special day. Some even choose to wear the exact look their moms wore in order to honor her love and sacrifice over the years. But while choosing to embrace your mother’s bridal style is a lovely gesture, the truth of the matter is, most gowns aren’t in the best shape to be worn years later.
Repurpose It Into a Rehearsal Dinner or Reception Dress
As the bride, there are several wedding events you’ll likely host when getting ready to say “I do.” Thus, use these events as an excuse to create a few custom looks, while also incorporating your mother’s wedding dress. Depending on the condition or the fit of the ensemble, this can be as simple as shortening the length and removing any sleeves. If it requires more work, however, a skilled seamstress will be able to transform the gown into the perfect party dress for your rehearsal, party and/or reception.
